“DermDetect offers specialized technology and trained people to provide examinations using macro and micro imaging for each suspicious spot on the body“, said Roger Sparks, Skin Cancer Free President and CEO. “They also provide impressive HIPAA compliant technology that allows remote examination of those images by skilled Dermatologists plus long term storage for comparisons and follow-up“, he continued. “We feel they are an ideal provider in our collaboration with the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute.”
DermDetect will be responsible for all direct costs associated with each examination, including all supporting people, camera, computer technology, and secure cloud storage. Skin Cancer Free will pay DermDetect a fixed fee for each person examined.
This collaboration is being done under the Medical Direction of Sancy Leachman, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Dermatology, OHSU, and Director, Melanoma Research Program, Knight Cancer Institute. It will be testing a variety of early detection and examination techniques that we believe may provide enhanced detection of melanoma and other of skin cancer.
The collaboration is fully funded by a combination of tax-free donations and corporate payments for employee examinations.
